This little creature sang a summer song for me one July evening on a farm near Lacombe, Alberta. His happy mood was undeterred by the barbed wire on which he was perched. Expressing this contrast of freedom and barbed wire was a challenge. For a weathered look, I digitally printed and hand-coloured the scene on lutradur, and then created the free standing structure. Prominent hand-stitches emphasize the prickliness of the barbed wire. This 3-sided, free-standing, artwork. This work has been exhibited in five venues in Canada and the US.
