Pure Joy is what I felt when I got new hearing aids and could hear clearly again! I often struggled to make out words or questions, and as a result, withdrew from conversations. This piece has been exhibited at the Vernon Art Gallery in conjunction with the Canadian Hearing Association exhibit "What does hearing mean to you?" and is now travelling with the Textile and Fibre Artists of Manitoba exhibit "Joy".   My piece shows an actual hearing test, blue face struggling to hear, pink face happy with hearing aid behind the ear; hearing aid battery earrings, birds singing, photos of Bluetooth connected iPad and iPhone, a necessity.  Phrases that hearing disabled hear and use, such as: I didn't catch that, could you please repeat, excuse me, and thoughts such as: I'm deaf, not stupid, printed on organza.  What gives me joy? Joy is Hearing!
