In Praise of Poppies

The ephemeral, brilliantly colored, lage blossoms of Oriental poppies herald he promise of warm summer days.
Each petal is separately handpainted with Procion dyes, then richly embroidered. The petals in front are 3-dimensional and the gravity alone makes them to open forward. Machine embroidered leaves, flower buds and seedpods complete this machine quilted piece. The background fabric was painted by Caryl Bryer-Fallert-Gentry.
