Bernadette Yuzik

A pine cone is nature's architectural marvel when viewed closely. I am fascinated by it's grandeur. I took the photo to create this lasting art piece, studying it closely. The emergence of my interpretation became clear, wanting it to be as life like as possible in subtle 3d form. Hence the pinecones are lightly shaped and some stuffing is incorporated in their form.

It was juried into the 2024 Canadian National Show, held in Edmonton, Alberta. 

It won 2nd place in Landscapes and Still Life.
