Touque

Private Collection

38"W x 22.5"L

Touque (also spelled tuque or toque) is a truly Canadian word for a knitted hat, an indispensible item in our cold climate. I see them in many colours and styles in the ski village near where I live. What fun to make these touques in fabric. I could go on and on. At the suggestion of my small quilting group, I replaced one with another, in the colours of the Hudson Bay Company, a truly Canadian institution (at least it used to be). So now I have a spare touque for when it gets really cold up here.

Hand needleturn appliqué, hand embroidery, fabric distressing, embellishing, machine quilting, corded binding..

My first entry into a FAN exhibit Canadian Expressions, Seattle, WA, 2008

Awarded Honourable Mention, Quilting in the Mountains, Sun Peaks, BC, 2010
