Conference Day Three – Saturday 22 August

Here we are starting another busy enlightening day.

We were educated by three presentations, ‘A Brief Art Influencer Story from Cave Walls to AI’ by Yvonne Bilan-Wallace, ‘From Inspiration to Finish Line’ by Diana Bartelings, ‘Ideas, Imagination and AI’ by Joyce Brown.

After a short break we hit the pavement walking to three locations around town.  We came across ‘Elon’ Musk Ox and couldn’t resist a photo op.

One of the stops was the local quilt shop. The Quilted Raven.

Next stop was Signed followed by the Fireweed Studio.

Following the walking tour we hopped on a bus and travelled to the Heritage Museum where we ate lunch and looked / read about the history of Yellowknife.

On the ride back we stopped at the location of the Dettah Ice Road, no ice to ride on today. We also saw the Ward Air freight plane used before the highway was built.

Back at the hotel we had two more presentations, Hazel Wainwright telling about her ‘Northern Influences’.

Judy Leslie and Christine Johannink presented on ‘The Joy of Making: Creating Handmade Books’. There were so many samples for inspiration.

A bit a stitching took place during happy hour, hopefully the stitches stayed straight.

In the evening we had the artwork exchange, a much looked forward to event. Here are pictures of some of the ladies holding the new piece they are taking home with them.

Lastly these keener ladies finished their beaded earrings from last night and were wearing them all day today.

One day left of fun and frivolity.
