Water plays a central role in our cultural, spiritual and ecological reverence for rivers, lakes and oceans. Without water, life itself would not exist. It holds a special place in cultural and spiritual practices e.g. baptism, cleansing rituals, offerings. In the past, little attention was given to disposal of waste and respect for our water sources. Many countries face drought and water shortages constantly. Today we are called upon to change old habits; become good stewards and protect the ecological health of rivers, lakes and oceans. Water is essential for all life.
